A1 mistake diagnosis checklist

Goal

Use this checklist after writing or speaking practice to catch A1 mistakes fast.

Step 1: Verb position

  • Is the conjugated verb in position 2 in main clauses?
  • Example check: Heute lerne ich Deutsch.

Step 2: Subject-verb agreement

  • Does the verb ending match ich/du/er-wir-ihr-sie?
  • Example check: du gehst, wir gehen

Step 3: Articles and noun gender

  • Did you use der/die/das correctly where possible?
  • Did you learn noun + article as one unit?

Step 4: Plural forms

  • Are plural forms memorized correctly?
  • Example: das Kind -> die Kinder

Step 5: Capitalization and punctuation

  • Are nouns capitalized?
  • Does every sentence end with punctuation?

Fast repair routine

  1. Read sentence aloud.
  2. Find the verb.
  3. Check subject and ending.
  4. Check article + noun.
  5. Final punctuation pass.

Do short error checks often. Daily 5-minute correction beats rare long correction sessions.
