Goal

Turn memorized phrases into active, context-appropriate communication.

Revision workflow (B1)

  1. Choose one phrasebook topic.
  2. Build one short dialogue (6-8 lines).
  3. Build one short message (4-6 lines).
  4. Run self-check and rewrite once.

Common B1 mistakes

  • Too direct requests without polite framing
  • Missing context (what happened / when)
  • Unclear next step request
  • Repeating same sentence starters

Upgrade rewrites

  • Basic: "Ich brauche Hilfe."

Better: "Könnten Sie mir bitte kurz helfen?"

  • Basic: "Das geht nicht."

Better: "Leider funktioniert das im Moment nicht."

  • Basic: "Ich will neuen Termin."

Better: "Ich würde gern einen neuen Termin vereinbaren."

Self-check rubric (1-5)

  • clarity of request
  • polite tone
